How to Use medEdit

Terms of Agreement

  1. The Client is the individual, organization, company, or other entity that requests the services of medEdit.
  2. The Client is responsible for providing all support materials required to complete this project to medEdit on a timely basis. This includes the purchase of additional references identified by medEdit that are required for the project and the payment of permissions fees when the Client asks medEdit to obtain permission for the use of published/copyrighted materials.
  3. The Client is responsible for designating a contact person who will be available on a timely basis to address queries that arise during the completion of this project.
  4. If any changes are made in the criteria for the project before it is completed, the Client will provide such information to medEdit on a timely basis and in writing (e-mail is sufficient).
  5. The Client owns all rights to each finished manuscript. To this end, the Client is responsible for the accuracy of the content of any manuscript prepared by medEdit for the Client. The Client is also responsible for ensuring that the content of any manuscript prepared by medEdit for the Client meets all legal and ethical requirements of the Client’s profession or industry.
  6. The Client will pay 25% of the estimate of each project before medEdit begins the service requested for that project. This applies to all projects with an estimate exceeding $200.00. [This fee is waived for the first project for the first-time Client.]
  7. The Client is responsible for ensuring that payments are made on receipt of an invoice from medEdit. Payment can be made by PayPal or credit card, as well as by check. Payments that arrive at medEdit more than 15 days after the date of the invoice may be subject to a 20% late fee, which will be due and payable on notification.
  8. medEdit ensures the confidentiality of any and all projects prepared for  any Client by any member of its staff. The authorship and content of any materials prepared by medEdit will not be knowingly or purposefully revealed to any individual, organization, company, or institution for any reason, except when required by law. If the Client requires a signed confidentiality statement prepared by the Client or his/her employer, the Client will contact medEdit and provide the statement. It will be signed and counter-signed before work is begun for the Client by medEdit. Otherwise, the form completed by the Client after clicking on "I ACCEPT" after reading these Terms of Agreement will serve as the provision of confidentiality by medEdit.
  9. medEdit will ensure that any subcontractor assigned to any tasks associated with this project signs a confidentiality statement.
  10. medEdit will retain materials pertinent to this project (eg, reference materials, previous drafts) on its premises (hard copy, printed materials, server, floppies/CDs, etc) for a maximum of 90 days after the project is completed.
  11. medEdit reserves the right to decline any projects that include material it considers objectionable, including material that appears to be factually unsupportable or misleading and materials that appear to be offensive per the current version of the US Civil Rights Act.
